In cooperation with the UNHCR Representation in Serbia, the Administrative Court actively participated in an experts exchange on the topic: “International standards in the field of refugee law and the asylum procedure”, which was held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Belgrade. The event was attended by the judges of the Administrative Court. The meeting was opened by the President of the Administrative Court, Judge Radojka Marinković, who addressed the participants and highlighted the cooperation with the UNHCR Representation in Serbia, which recognized the importance and the role of the Administrative Court in strengthening institutional frameworks in the field of asylum and support in improving the efficiency and quality of judicial protection in asylum proceedings and strengthening of the rule of law. After the opening speech, Ljubimka Mitrović, head of the Department for Legal Protection of Refugees, gave a presentation on the topic: mandate and cooperation of the UNHCR with the courts in the asylum procedure, follwed by Professor Ivana Krstić, a full-time professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, who spoke on the topic: “International law and standards in the field of refugee law and the relationship between international and national law”. After a short break, a Hight Court Judge of the Administrative Court of Slovenia, Boštjan Zalar, gave a presentation on the topic: “Decision-making by the courts in the Republic of Slovenia in the asylum procedure (decision-making on the merits, the role of the court and security-sensitive cases)”. As part of the final presentation, Professor Marko Davinić, a professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade, spoke about specific nature of the asylum procedure.
